Mr. Mutle Mogase (over 30 years banking and private equity experience, SAVCA, African Bank, MFRC) is a co-founder and executive chair of Maia Capital. He is also co-founder and former Executive Chairman of Vantage Capital Group, one of the pioneers of mezzanine debt in South Africa, founded in 2001.
He has both sell side and buy side experience in the fund management business having also been chairman of the Post Office Pension Fund Investment Committee and has recently been appointed to the Investment Committee of the Sentinel Retirement Fund. Mr. Mogase is past chairman of the Southern African Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (SAVCA) previous board member of the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association (EMPEA). He was also peviously on the advisory board of JP Morgan South Africa
He was also intimately involved in the negotiations and development of the Financial Sector Charter and if the Founding President of ABSIP.Mr. Mogase also sits on various company and NGO boards.
Ms. Tiny Kgatlwane (over 30 years treasury, banking and investment management experience) is currently an Executive Director at Kgare Insurance Brokers. She was previously the CEO at BIFM for 5 years and prior to that the Principal Officer/CEO of the Debswana Pension Fund. Tiny has also had an illustrious career in banking having previously been the Country Head of Treasury for Barclays Bank Botswana and Standard Chartered Uganda. She began her career as a Project Officer at the Botswana Development Corporation. Mrs Kgatlwane brings to the Aleyo Board, decades of experience as a business leader in financial services including pension funds, banking, treasury, insurance and asset management.
Tiny is Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Management) from University of Botswana and a CIMA charter holder. Previous non-executive directorships include Khumo Property Asset Management, JTTM (Railpark Mall), Botswana Privatisation Asset Holding, Feune (Airport Junction Mall), Aflife Zambia, Competition Authority Commission, Turnstar Holdings, BOMAID, Botswana Red Cross, Botswana Tourism Organisation, Sechaba Breweries Holdings Limited and the Sanlam Core Real Estate Fund.
Bafana is a co-founder and Managing Director of the firm. With over 16 years of experience, he is the former Chief Investment Officer for the country’s largest development finance institution, Botswana Development Corporation. He has previously worked for Vantage Capital as a senior investment team member in JHB where he was involved in the funding and structuring of mezzanine transactions on the R2bn Africa-focused Fund II, responsible for RSA, Botswana, Mozambique and Namibia deals.
Bafana has also worked for VPB in Botswana and Namibia a Senior Associate executing private equity transactions in Botswana and Namibia. At VPB he was also one of the founding members of the VPB Namibia Growth Fund, instrumental in the fundraising and initial set up of the fund. He began his career as an investment analyst with one of the local asset managers. Bafana earned a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics and Finance) and an MBA from University of Cape Town. He also holds a Post-graduate Diploma in Business from University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Science.
Bafana has served on a number of boards in the beverages, hospitality, FMCG, Property, ICT and Agro-processing. He currently serves on the boards of Botswana Telecommunication Limited, Metropolitan Life Botswana, Rainbow Schools, FMRE and Transport Holdings.

Mr. David Johnson currently runs his own corporate finance advisory firm Alwyne Partners. He is a seasoned corporate finance and investment banking practitioner with over 30 years’ experience having completed US$ 9.4 Billion in international advisory deals and ZAR 32 Billion of principal bids and acquisition transactions in South Africa.
He was until 2014 the Chief Investment Officer of the J&J Group where he completed a number of notable transactions, including investment into the Bombela Concession Company (Gautrain Project), Lesedi Nuclear Services as well as the redevelopment Kelvin Power Station. Prior to that he was with Decorum Capital Investment Holdings where notably acted as the lead advisor on the ZAR 7.5 Billion (USD US$1.1Billion) acquisition of Cape Town V&A Waterfront Limited by Dubai World, which was at the time the largest ever property transaction in South Africa.
David also worked for ABSA Bank as General Manager, Head Specialised Finance, Capital and Debt Markets. Prior to ABSA he was with HSBC, Johannesburg as Director, Project and Structured Finance before joining London operation as Director Energy and Utilities Group, Corporate Finance and Advisory. David been previously with ABSA prior to his project finance team he led was bought out by HSBC. There he led and completed transactions including the N4 Toll Road Project, the R300 Cape Urban Toll Road, the N2 Toll Wild Coast Corridor, the Nelspruit Water Concession and the $1,6Bn Mozal aluminium smelter.
Ms. Geetha Tharmaratnam is the Chief Impact Investment Officer of the WHO Foundation. Previously she was Partner – Africa & Head of Impact for LGT Impact, founding partner of T5 Africa Capital Partners, portfolio management team member and a principal in the CIO Office at Aureos Capital. Geetha is an advisor to Capria Ventures, an accelerator for impact fund managers and acts as Advisor for Capria Ventures, a global investment firm facilitating the flow of impact capital by providing fund managers with acceleration and advisory services, funding, and access to a growing network of leading fund managers around the world.
She was previously with Abraaj Group, a growth markets private equity (PE) firm investing $7.5 Billion in 160+ businesses in Africa, Latin America, Middle East and Asia as Director, Portfolio Management. Prior to Abraaj she was with Aureos Capital, the largest SME Emerging Markets PE firm investing $1.3 Billion in Africa, Latin America and Asia, as Principal, Investments and ESG.
She brings over 16 years international work experience in banking, insurance/reinsurance, PE and development finance in Emerging Markets. Geetha has served on several industry and economic forums such the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Sustainable Development, the African Venture Capital & Private Equity Sustainability Board Sub-Committee, Emerging Markets Private Equity Association and Principles for Responsible Investing Working and the G8 taskforce on Impact Investing.
She is an MBA and MSc Mgmt. Research (Private Equity as an instrument of development in Africa) Graduate of Said Business School, Oxford University. Her first degree was a BSc (Hons) in Finance from University of Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA.
Mr. Boikanyo Kgosidintsi was previously Managing Director of Western Life Insurance and has also acted as the Group Investor Relations Head at Letshego Holdings Limited. His primary responsibilities are to develop and maintain strategic dialogue with key domestic and international capital market participants, as well to assist with on-going capital raising and liquidity initiatives that are key to diversifying the Group’s sources of funding and bringing down its overall cost of funding.
Boikanyo joined Letshego from Barclays Africa in Johannesburg – he started there with Absa Capital in 2008, initially working in the Africa Debt Capital Markets team, subsequently moving to the Investment Banking Africa desk to assist in the sub-Saharan Africa coverage build out. Prior to that, over a period of 15 years, he developed his broader financial services experience working at the Botswana Stock Exchange, some of the leading commercial banks and other non-bank financial institutions in Botswana. Boikanyo has deep African capital markets experience having been involved in debt capital market raisings in excess of US1 .5bn for sovereign issuers, blue chip corporates and Government related entities.
Specifically, Boikanyo has been involved structuring, execution and marketing of transactions to domestic and international institutional fixed income investors.

Refilwe is an Associate Partner at the firm, with 17 years’ experience within asset management, private equity and debt and development finance. She was formerly a Senior Investment Officer at Botswana Development Corporation (BDC), where her responsibilities included deal origination and structuring, financial modelling, investment appraisal, due diligence and portfolio management.
Previously, Refilwe worked for a regional Nordic development financial institution – Norsad Capital as part of the investment team where she was involved in the origination, financial modelling, investment appraisal, conducting due diligence and structuring of deals across the SADC region including Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Refilwe began her career in 2005 as an Investment Analyst at Imara Holdings and later on Portfolio Manager with Botswana Insurance Fund Management (BIFM). Refilwe earned a Bachelor of Applied Finance from Macquarie University in Australia and a Master of Science in Finance (MSc Finance) from Warwick Business School, UK.
She completed the first 2 levels of the Chartered Financial Analyst designation with the CFA Institute and Financial Modelling and Valuation Analysis (FMVA) with the Corporate Finance Institute. She recently completed a Post Graduate Program in Data Science and Business Analytics (PGP-DBSA) from McCombs School of Business, University of Texas, USA.
Refilwe currently serves on the Liberty Life Botswana board as an Independent Director and Chairperson of the Investment Committee as well as FMRE and Rainbow Schools boards.
Kopo is an Investment Manager at Aleyo Capital a role he assumed in January 2019. His responsibilities include all aspects of deal execution including deal origination, investment screening and appraisals, due diligence, financial modelling and deal structuring. Kopo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science (First Class) from the London School of Economics (LSE) and a Masters degree in Actuarial Management from Cass Business School, UK.
He is currently a level I candidate for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Prior to joining Aleyo Capital he was an Actuarial Intern at Hollard Botswana.
Finance & operations
Seamless Operations And Financial Integrity
Ms. Amantle Moreetsi is a Senior Accountant at Aleyo Capital with over 8 years of experience in financial management, financial reporting, budgeting and monitoring and the full cycle accounting process. At Aleyo Capital Amantle is responsible for assisting with the driving of strategic and operational accounting activities as well as operations management including back-office functions, procurement, IT and HR of the company and its affiliated entities.
Amantle is a chartered accountant with membership in good standing with Association of Chartered Professional Accountants (ACCA,UK) and Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants BICA(BW) and an undergraduate qualification in BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance graduate (University of Derby, UK). She is currently pursuing an MSc in Finance and Investments with the London School of Business and Finance.
Pamela is a Finance and Operations Officer at Aleyo Capital, a role she assumed in October 2022. Her responsibilities include financial planning, budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting, IT and administration.
She holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from University of Botswana and currently pursuing her CIMA qualification and Post Graduate Diploma in Taxation.
Tlotlo is the Administration Officer at Aleyo Capital with over 5 years’ experience in Administration Management . At Aleyo Capital she is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the firm as well as assisting the Managing Director and Associate Partner in their administrative duties. Previously, Tlotlo held Administrative and Executive Assistant roles at various entities including Business Botswana and Flotek.
She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Management from the University of Botswana, a certificate in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and a COP in Short-Term and Long-Term Insurance from Botswana Accountancy College.
